TV and Male Fertility
Men who watch TV for approximately three hours per day will have a significantly lower sperm count than those who watch less. In fact, this study showed the sperm count of these men decreases by 50%!
There could be several causes for this decrease in fertility. Lack of exercise could be one; men who get adequate exercise show a higher fertility rate. Another possible cause is that men who watch television may overheat their testicles while by sitting still for long periods of time. Sperm needs to be at a specific temperature (slightly lower than that of the body) to optimize sperm development. There may be other other factors influencing sperm development that are connected with long periods of watching TV.
