Reason's for failed IVF?
Hi Doctors!
Dealing with male factor infertility (poor morphology), and just had 3 failed IUI's and 1 failed IVF. No known issues with myself. What are some of the typical reasons why the blast did not attach?
Are the genesis statistics of 60-70% sucess rates reflective of first attempts? What are the sucess rates for frozen cycle attempts?
Thanks for your thoughts :)

Hello summerfun,
I am very sorry that you haven't gotten pregnant yet. These are really good questions that you have but it is difficult to give you good answers without looking at all aspects of your chart and story.
In general, we see a lot of morphology (sperm shape) problems here at the clinic. We often struggle to know exactly why this abnormality exists and also whether it is in fact affecting a couple's chances. We try and put things in a "clinical picture" where we look at the rest of your history too, including how long you have been trying.
It sounds as if you made a nice embryo and probably have some frozen too. Remember that with the transfer of a single blastocyst in our clinic, the pregnancy rates are approximately 67%. That means that 2 out of every three people will get pregnant. It is likely that you just had bad luck and fell into that unsuccessful third.
Frozen cycles can be very good but they aren't as good as a fresh cycle. It would be hard to give you statistics without looking at your embryo quality with you.
I would encourage you to make sure you to sit down with the doctor that you have here and go over things in detail.
Good luck in the future and hang in there,
Dr.H
