Chinese medicine has a proverb about conception that says you must “cultivate the soil before planting the seed.” All of us know that if we want to have a healthy garden we must tend the soil and nourish it with water and nutrients for plants to flourish.

This analogy applies to our health and fertility as well. Even though certain factors like age and genetics determines the number and quality of your eggs there is still much that you can do to improve the fertile environment (the soil) in which egg development, conception, implantation and gestation occurs.

Increasingly medical research is showing that fertility is closely related to your overall health and may be affected by many factors including inflammation, stress, diet and lifestyle. And recent studies are suggesting that the health of the mother and father not only effect fertility but the health of the baby and of their future children (your grand children) as well (a.k.a epigenetics).

At Acubalance we use an integrated approach to optimize your body’s own fertile potential. Sometimes just simple lifestyle changes can be enough to shift your body into the fertile zone and in other cases western reproductive therapies may be necessary to help you get pregnant. But in all cases addressing any underlying imbalances will give you the best chance of conceiving and having a healthy baby.
