New books I recommend to help boost your fertility.
I wanted to share with our patients and web readers two new books that I am confident will help
optimize your fertility. Boost Your Fertility: New Solutions for Conceiving Quickly and Having a Healthy Pregnancy as Soon as Possible and Making Babies: A Proven 3-Month Program for Maximum Fertility
I agree with their advice and like how each has set up a 3 month program (we call it preconception care) where you look at natural approaches to boost your fertility for natural conception or with IVF. Both books share our philosophy of the three free therapies: Diet, Lifestyle (Adequate rest, moderate exercise and sufficient deep sleep) and deep relaxation. The books address PCOS, recurrent pregnancy loss, advanced maternal age/low ovarian reserve male factor, IVF and unexplained infertility. If you have read and enjoyed The Infertility Cure by Randine Lewis
then you will be impressed with these two new additions and what additional advice they have to offer.

I highly recommend "Making Babies"
Lorne Brown suggested that we read "Making Babies". For me, the book validated our frustration with the medical profession as they will look and concentrate on 1 big problem only. Having read "Making Babies", you realize that there can be many things that can be “off” at the same time and be fixed easily by making better informed lifestyle choices. The first thing your GP (however nice he/she is) will do is to refer you to a fertility clinic. There are no mention made of other options such as lifestyle changes, alternative treatment, etc you can make to increase your fertility. I think that the medical profession is so careful not to offend you by suggesting to lose weight, what to eat and what to avoid, to sleep more, exercise more or less, etc. In the end this is more frustrating and a lot more stressful. It’s as if everything can be fixed with medication. If only it was that easy.
With having had the hard earned experience of two ICSI cycles and a miscarriage, now that we've read “Making Babies”, we feel much more in control and know how we can help ourselves to increase our fertility and help maintain a pregnancy. Our experience is that when going through fertility treatment we asked a lot of questions, but keeping in mind that as we are not in the medical profession, we did not really know all the right questions to ask. I highly recommend reading “Making Babies” as it gave a much better explanation of what can possibly be “off” and how can we help improve our chances of having a baby. Due to timing, work commitment, etc, we will more than likely still go ahead with a 3rd ICSI cycle but we will do everything in our power to ensure that we are physically prepared for this.
