Herb Preparation Instructions

Preparing Powdered Herbs:

  • Take one packet from each bundle (each bundle is ONE kind of herb- so you need a packet from EVERY bundle)
  • Pour your packets into a mug or cup and add boiling water. Stir 3-4 minutes to fully dissolve. (At this point, if the drink is too hot, you may add an ice cube or some cold water.)
  • Drink only HALF of the cup. The remainder is to be consumed later in the day (ie., half in the morning, half in the afternoon, OR half with breakfast, half with dinner if you prefer to take it with food).
  • When you drink the second half of your herbal preparation, you are welcome to add hot water again in order to reheat it.

Cooking Raw Herbs:

  • To cook three days of herbal tea at once, place three bags of  raw herbs into a pot and cover with water roughly half and inch above the herbs.  Let soak for one hour before cooking.
  • Cover, bring to a boil, then simmer on low/med boil for 45-60 minutes.
  • Strain liquid into a bowl keeping the herbs in the pot (cheesecloth or tea towels work great for straining).
  • Pour tea into a glass jar and refrigerate once cooled to room temp.
  • Drink 1/3 of the tea each day, preferably divided into 2 doses per day (morning and afternoon before meals, unless otherwise instructed). May be taken at room temperature, cold, or hot.

Helpful Hints:

  • If you find the flavour unpleasant, feel free to add honey.
  • If you find the formula bitter tasting, brushing your teeth before consuming the drink can be very helpful.
  • We would like to recycle the Ziploc bags your herbs come in. Please bring them in when you are through using them.

If you have Powdered herbs left over from a formula, please let us know and we will try to incorporate them into your next formula.  We cannot accept herbal returns for quality control and safety purposes.
