A happy ending with continuing adventures...
I think when us guys hear the words "fertility issue", we tend to look for ways to fix what's broken. My wife and I have been through the grinder and every test conceivable (<-yeah it's a pun) for Western medicine. There was no easy fix for what was quickly starting to look like an "infertile couple". Our last option was surrogacy, but we still needed healthy eggs from my wife and good sperm from me to proceed. We asked around about what we could do to increase our chances of having success with creating healthy embryos. Acubalance was mentioned a few times so we gave it a whirl. It really was the best advice anyone gave us. We went for a few months of treatment and in tandem with a fertility clinic, created several healthy embryos as a result. We now have a little girl that has just turned one. We can't thank Lorne, Trevor, Alda, Spence and their staff enough at Acubalance for helping us. They can truly make a difference.
We are currently revisiting Acubalance in the hopes of having a 2nd child. Lastly, I encourage all couples to BOTH go for acupuncture at Acublance. Wonderful point made...
At Acubalance we know that the main reason most men come for treatment is to support their wives through this journey, and, as a side effect, improve their health and optimize their sperm. I understand that many men struggle from moment to moment with the thoughts of having a baby. That said, when the wife is already doing so much to optimize her fertility it implies that a commitment to creating a family has been agreed upon. Supporting the wife with the common interest of 'creating a healthy family' is being proactive and appreciated more than most men realize. As for the needle phobia, we have the option of painless laser acupuncture!
One last thing, current research expresses the need for healthy sperm, despite what your doctor is telling you.

It takes two to make a baby
Thank you Clint for your kind words and especially for reminding us all that it still takes two to make a baby. Most of the women I see wish their husbands would be more supportive and proactive in optimizing their fertility. Of the men we see most benefit from a reduction in stress and improved well being but also realize how this is perceived by their female partner as "we are in this together" and this is the guys way of also being supportive.
In the western culture we often see health as the absence of disease. In Chinese medicine it is not only being disease free but reaching a state of vitality. We often ignore the things we cannot measure with our 5 senses. As future parents, we all have good intentions to do what is best for a child's health. We are not going to feed our babies loads of candy and processed food or let them watch hours of TV or stay up too late. What the Chinese doctors of antiquity knew and we have recently discovered in the form of epigenetics is that the health of your child is largely determined during the 3 months before conception. So if you are wanting give your child the best chance, not only do you want to offer exceptional care after they are birthed into the world but also during the 3 or more months leading up to when you conceive this child. And there is more, your health leading up to the time of conception not only impacts the health of your child but also your grandchildren. So do you want a child that is mostly diseased free or do you want a child who is full of vitality and programmed to live a long and healthy life? The healthy foundation you want to lay down for your future child's life starts now and includes both the man and woman who are contributing to the creation of this unborn life.
