What is the Ovarian Assessment Report (OAR)?


The Ovarian Assessment Report, first introduced for fertility testing in Vancouver by Acubalance,  provides women with an accurate assessment of ovulatory egg supply available through the use of a single blood sample. The report provides women with their Egg Retrieval Score (ERS) which is a unique index score that more accurately estimates the ovulatory egg supply by combining age with multiple ovary-related hormones.

Ovulatory egg supply is the quantity of eggs a woman has available for collection through controlled ovarian stimulation, commonly referred to as an egg retrieval procedure. Although you are not undergoing an egg retrieval procedure as part of your therapy, this report will provide us both with valuable information about your egg supply, one of the critical components to your overall fertility.
When and where do I have my blood specimen collected?

Your specimen must be collected on day 2, 3 or 4 of your menstrual period. The accuracy of this test depends upon the specimen being collected on day 2, 3 or 4 of your menstrual period.

Your blood specimen will be collected and sent to ReproSource from a BC Biomed.  When you have selected the location for your specimen collection, please take the following with you for the collection process:

    1.    The BCbiomed Laboratory requisition form
    2.    The ReproSource Test requisition form
