DHEA and Infertility

Many women ask about using DHEA to help them prepare for an IVF cycle.  In Canada it is hard to come by DHEA although in the United States you can pick up DHEA from the shelf of most health food stores.  
There are definitely both inherent risk and benefits to DHEA.  Patients should use DHEA cautiously and really be clear that truly need it. It is best to see a health professional who can test your DHEA levels and also prescribe the appropriate form of DHEA or its precursors.  Although DHEA can help some infertility related conditions it can also make you less fertile if you do not fit the correct parameters for its use.
