Hi there,

I am a Canadian, currently living in South Africa for the next year as my husband does his masters. I have been diagnosed with Endometriosis and had a laporoscopy in 2006. I currently have the mirena IUD and it seems to be working well to control pain and bleeding. However, we would like to become pregnant, if possible, in the next year or two. I know I need to take out the Mirena IUD but I am concerned that in the time we try for a baby the pain/bleeding will be too much. What do you usually suggest to patients that are wanting to try to fall pregnant but have extream pain?

Do you know how long the progesterone remains in your system after you take the IUD out?
