External Treatments for Skin Conditions
San Bai San
A mineral salt based soak that is used for the treatment of blistering types of skin rash like pompholox eczema or fungal disease, especially on the hands and feet. Because the soak is very drying it should be reserved for times when the condition is very active and during an acute flare up.
To use, add one bag of the powder to between 500 and 1000 ml of boiling water to a bowl big enough to soak the affected limb. While waiting fot the soak to cool down, one can steam the body part above the bowl. When cool enough, submerge and soak for 15 minutes. The soak can be repeated 1-2 times per day and the same wash can be used for two days of soaking.
Qing Dai San
This powder is used to treat fungal conditions like athletes foot, when the area between the toes are damp, cracked, and itchy or painful, with possible white flaky skin.
To use, wash the affected body part first with mild soap and water, making sure to towel dry the area well afterwards. Then sprinkle the area with a small amount of powder. This can be repeated 2-3 times per day.
