Alopecia Areata
Alopecia areata is very distressing, non-scaring, condition in which ones hair suddenly falls out in clumps. It is often associated with times of great stress. Chinese medicine looks at this disease as one of lack of nourishment, either from poor diet, constitution, or some type of blockage that prevent proper nutrition to the hair follicle. Inflammatory processes have also been indicated in this condition, even though the skin where the hair has fallen out can be smooth, shiny, and without any type of redness. Using both internal and external herbal medicine, good results can be obtained to help the hair re-grow.
Dr. Trevor Erikson focuses on the treatment of both skin and reproductive disorders at Acubalance Wellness Centre in both Vancouver and Langley, B.C. To learn more about Trevor click here.
