Accurate assessment of ovulatory egg supply available
Since I have founded Acubalance in 2000 couples have often asked what objective measures we can provide to show if the treatments and advice we provide are optimizing their fertility. We often look at overall health and wellbeing as well the health of the menstrual cycle to gauge improvement. This method requires both subjective and objective feedback from the women I see. Some of the areas we look can be objectified such as how many days you bleed and cycle length but others are more subjective such as color and consistency of blood and nature of pain and PMS.
As of June 2010 we are able to provide a more objective measure from a simple blood test called the Ovarian Assessment Report (OAR). This provides us with information as to your ovarian reserve as of “today” and by retesting at 4 month intervals (hopefully most do not need to retest because they conceive within this time) we can provide objective measurements that may have resulted from your treatments and improved lifestyle.
I have found it refreshing that many women I have offered the OAR test to have chosen to decline the test as they prefer not to get too caught up in the Science and labels. They have consciously chosen to put their focus on becoming more balanced and healthy with the understanding that this not only will improve their quality of life but also optimize their fertility. I want to be able to provide choice for all the couples I see so if you prefer to add this test to understand your fertility potential as it stands now I support this choice and can provide you with all the details.
Ovarian Assessment Report
The Ovarian Assessment Report provides women with an accurate assessment of ovulatory egg supply available through the use of a single blood sample. The report provides women with their Egg Retrieval Score (ERS) which is a unique index score that more accurately estimates the ovulatory egg supply by combining age with multiple ovary-related hormones.
