Fibroids
Fibroids Uterine Myomas
A benign tumor composed of fibrous muscle tissue in the uterus.
Western Clinical common symptoms of uterine myomas:
- Menorrhagia heavy bleeding
- Bleeding between Periods
- Lower abdominal pressure/pain
- Urinary or bowel complaints
- Frequent urination
- Low back pain
- Chronic Vaginal discharge
- Recurrent miscarriage
- Infertility
- Fatigue
In order to identify the presence of fibroids, you do not need to have all of the above symptoms, you may just have one or two. It depends on the woman, size, location, and type of myoma.
The deeper the myoma, the more resistant it is to treatment. Submucous myomas are easier to treat because they are shallower than others. Intramural, right in the middle of the muscle is the most difficult to treat.
If someone has pain in the lower abdomen all the time, and not just during menstruation, Chinese Medicine would reframe this into the disease category of lower abdominal pain, but if the pain is only around the menses, it is categorized as painful menstruation. Heavy bleeding would be reframed as profuse bleeding.
Abnormal or vaginal bleeding is the main symptom that let women know they will need to go to their western medical doctor, they may find a myoma.
