Overview:
Woman age 33 came in for acupuncture at 37 weeks pregnant for cervical ripening treatment. This was her second pregnancy and the pregnancy was going very well. However, her first child was born by Cesarian Section due to complications during labour. The doctors recommendations following a C- section is that the children should be at leat 2 years apart if there is a chance to deliver vaginally for the second child. The reason being is that the uterus is consdered in a weakend state. The space between her babies were 22 months, just shy of the 2 year mark. Although she is under the care of a midwife and obstratician has been consulting with her case. The goal for her was to go into labour before the schedualled C- section at 40 weeks.
Treatment:
The treatment principle was to fortify the spleen qi, course the liver, and rectify the qi. The recommended frequency of treatment was once per week until the delivery of the baby.
Outcome:
After 2 acupuncture treatments, She called to cancel her next appointment because she was in labour at 38.5 weeks. Mom is overjoyed and baby is happy and healthy.
